So, this spring I also went to Washington DC! I am waaaay behind on posting photos, but we'll catch up. Wow, I've been too busy traveling to even think about looking for Ms. Spork...

Sadly, the weather was crap when I was in DC. I did go see the National Mall, though, with all its monuments:

Since it was pouring, I ducked into the national gallery to see some art:

I also had to go admire the dome at the middle of the Gallery because it reminded me of the ceiling of the Pantheon in Rome:

So, after I went to Florida, I also went and hung out in Georgia for a couple days. Here I am in front of the amazingly shiny gold dome of the Atlanta capitol building!

We also went out for some real Georgia style barbecue. It was pretty tasty and the Brunswick stew was great.

After all my international travels, I decided to kick around the US for awhile. So over spring break, I went to FLorida! Don't get too excited, there were no hott beach babes involved. But there were some really cool people talking about the middle ages.

Here are pictures!

I went to Tallahassee for a conference on the middle ages called Vagantes. It was a really fun time, and the weather was awesome. Here I am (below) on the Florida State campus, a cross between a university and a theme park:

We had a banquet one night in part of their library. It was a pretty cool spot:

Whooo! So after Taiwan, and then a week here to watch the super bowl, I was back to the east to go to India. Had a BLAST and got to see some awesome places. I went to the Taj Mahal!

Came back from Taiwan (more pictures of that later) just in time to watch the home town team beat out the Dirty Birds in a truly tine-biting game. My friends and I partied on the streetcorner after the Steelers hard fought victory.

HEY!

been a busy couple of days around here. I spent last Friday at a Trappist Brewery- La Trappe - in the Southern Netherlands, by Tilburg. Had a great time, even if the tour was in Dutch! good times, man. Here I am sampling the local brews:

of course, not all of the Netherlands looks like a painting. I also went to Rotterdam, and here I am in front of a weirdly shiny, excessively modern building:

I am off to Belgium tomorrow, to eat frites and drink beer. Ciao, bellas!

Today, the Sporkster headed off to Delft, home of Johannes Vermeer and all the tile factories. I also visited the Prinsenhof - an old convent which was converted into the home of William the Silent, one of the country´s great political figures who was assassinated in, i think, 1584 or so.

Here I am in the Prinsenhof in front of the spot where he was assassinated. it´s at the base of a stairway, and those holes in the wall are the bullet holes from the assassination. Kind of weird and creepy, but also cool to see.

Well, I´m abroad for the summer, spending some time in the Netherlands. I was at this living history museum in Arnhem, and got a nice tourist to take this picture:

Hey guys! Sorry I've been awol. Just been busy cruising the local silverware drawers looking for the future Mrs. Spork. No luck yet, but here's hoping. I also got to go to the spa last weekend. Got all lathered up and massaged by this cute redhead and everything.

So it's been a busy couple days for the SporkNation in the media. Not all the portrayals are positive though. Sporks, like humans, are concerned about the potentials of genetic engineering:

Hey dudes and dudettes!
Sorry I've been such a lameoid about keeping you updated on my wacky hijinks, but I have a nice collection of photos that have been piling up recently.

Remember that lovely young lady I posted about having gone to the gallery opening with? well, my strategy worked, and we had a second date! we went to see this totally whack exhibit of these glass things at Phipps Conservatory. They were pretty weird, but colorful and fun. Sadly, none of my pix of my date came out in focus, and even this one of me isn't that great, but here you are:

So yesterday, I was down at the county Courthouse campaigning for spork equality, but that's a little too serious and nerd-core to post about. Plus, I forgot my camera!

SO instead, I'll leave you with a picture from a recent date with a lovely young thang who I've seen a couple times now. I know chicks dig artsy events, so for a first date we went to a gallery opening at a local university gallery. I wasn't feeling the vibe so much; there were weird strappy bits hanging from the ceiling and this totally whack inflatable thing. I thought it looked like a giant slug, and I was sooo not into it, but my date really dug these poems written on the wall. I think she called them "thought diagrams." Dude, writing on the walls is always cool, but especially if it's someone's phone number, if you get what I'm sayin'.

Here's a picture of me and my date in the gallery in front of one of the poems. Please note that I look hella-fly, and my date is lookin' pretty fine as well. Sorry we're so out of focus; there was free beer at the event! (I love the arts! free beer!)

There's generally a lack of media coverage on how hard it is to be a spork. Where do you belong? There's no slot in the silverware drawer for a spork, after all. Anyway, I was pleased to see some attention paid to the issue in the recent newspapers:

Happy Saturday, kids! Hope y'all aren't too hung over from your craaaazy parties last night. I've had a busy week; on wednesday I had a blind date at a local beer joint; there was a beer tasting going on, and I thought it would be a nice event for a beer afficionado like myself. Good way to impress the ladies, you know? so I met this chick there, and we had a few beers, and she was nice, but I don't think I'll be seeing her again. She just does not have her head screwed on straight, man! The Sporkster demands something a little more intense, and she was just not with it.

Still, here's a picture of me lookin' all fly, and my date. Had to get a pic of that crazy hairdo....

Ty "Spork" Ware, here. My adopted parents named me Ty, but my college buddies all call me Spork or The Sporkster.

The Spork is here to be your guide to life, dating and adventure in this great city of ours. Join me on my quest for the perfect utensil to become the future Mrs. Spork.
